Standard configuration P.08 Luger originally manufactured for the Imperial German military in 1918 and subsequently utilized by the German Weimar police. The receiver is stamped "1918" over the chamber, with DWM arsenal proofs followed by an Imperial German reichsadler present on the right. Toggle bears the intertwined "DWM" monogram. Barrel bears "(Eagle) / 33" waffenamts on the left side, indicating manufacture by Simson, with the right bearing a "PTV / (Eagle)" stamp, indicating this Luger was rebarreled at the Police Academy for Technology & Transport between 1928-1934. Left side of frame retains its original sear safety. Major metal components are rust blued, with some smaller components being strawed and nitre blued. Frame is mounted with 2-piece checkered walnut grips. All numbers are matching, with the exception of the barrel and grips, which are unnumbered. Magazine bottom is matching and bears a small police sunburst proof above "K" at the bottom. CONDITION: Metal components retain the vast majority of their period arsenal applied blue finish, exhibiting a few small spots of mild wear and thinning, as well as a few areas with light surface oxidation. Strawed components exhibit mild thinning and wear, with worn areas exhibiting spots of age related discoloration. Very bright bore, exhibiting some very light pitting and frosting, as well as good rifling throughout. Grips exhibit some light smoothing and a few small nicks to the diamonds, but are otherwise fine. A very nice, high condition example of a Weimar era police Luger. MLW
