For a similar hilt, see 132.S on pg. 105 of "Swords & Blades of the American Revolution" by George C. Neumann. The straight single-edged blade has a fuller on each side. Brass hilt with pierced heart-shaped guard and forward turned quillon. 1 branch on left side and 2 crudely gadrooned branches on right side. Brass pommel with integral capstan. Wood grip with shagreen wrap and twisted brass wire decoration. Complete with its black leather scabbard with brass mounts. CONDITION: Blade retains a mostly brown patina with some scattered pitting and nicks to edge. Hilt retains a very dark mustard patina. Grip shows some losses to shagreen. Scabbard shows some crazing, marks from use, and a repaired crack 16 - 3/4" from tip. Mounts dark and show some denting. Some losses to stitching. A Very attractive Revolutionary War era horseman's saber. DMG
