This American-assembled musket was purchased from Norm Flayderman's Catalog #59 in 1962 for $245.00. An original catalog page with this listing is included. The title is "A PIECE WHICH WILL EASILY QUALIFY as an American Revolutionary "Committee of Safety" Brown Bess." The American barrel features a bayonet lug on top, towards the muzzle. The unmarked lock is also possibly of American manufacture. Brass American-manufactured furniture. Sideplate resembles a stylized Long Land Pattern Brown Bess sideplate. Sheet brass buttplate, ramrod ferrules, and nose cap. Stocked in cherry, probably New England. Complete with a period iron ramrod. CONDITION: Barrel has a brown patina with some corrosion on barrel, heavy at breech. Lock retains a light grey patina with scattered pitting. Lock is in its original flintlock configuration; action is strong and functions well. Brass retains a mellow patina. Stock shows scattered marks from use, minor age cracks and three iron tacks on left side. Probably slightly shortened during period of use. A nice American Revolutionary War era musket. DMG
