1 of only approximately 290,000 Model 1895 Muskets manufactured by Winchester, sold to the Imperial Russian government between 1915 and 1916, which was in dire need of small arms prior to the Russian Revolution. This example, manufactured in 1916, is stamped with a Winchester proof above "7.62/ M.M." over the chamber, with Winchester's manufacturer information present on the left side. Rear receiver tang bears usual Winchester Model and patent markings. Right side of receiver bears a boxed "X (Cyrillic "I") 3" proof. Rifle is in a standard Model 1895 Musket configuration, with the addition of a receiver mounted stripper clip guide and a bayonet lug on the forward barrel band. Metal components are blued, while the furniture is comprised of solid wood. Rifle is mounted with Finnish boxed "SA" marked brown leather sling and a proper Russian 1895 pattern bayonet with its scabbard and frog. CONDTION: Metal components retain fair to good amounts of their original factory applied blue finish, exhibiting surface oxidation and areas of wear overall. Brilliant mirror bore, exhibiting sharp and well defined lands and grooves throughout. Wood furniture exhibits scattered dings, marks, and impressions from storage and handling, but otherwise appears sturdy and serviceable. Bayonet is very good. A nice example of an extremely desirable Russian Winchester Model 1895 lever action musket.
