Standard configuration of a small ring Mauser Commercial C96. Adjustable rear sight graduated out to 1000 yards, offset serial number off breech with German "(Crown) / (Crown) / U" proof, normal 3 line Waffenfabrik Oberndorf mark on top of channel; Waffenbabrik Mauser mark on right side of frame. Barleycorn front sight, V notch rear sight. Matching numbers (or partials) observed on slide, bolt carrier, bolt stop, hammer, subframe, locking block, sear, frame, and inscribed both grips. Non-rotatable lanyard loop. Stock is unmarked. CONDITION: Metal is essentially a smooth chocolate patina throughout, with some silvering to high edges and flashes scattered through. Legends are softened but legible. Grips heavily softened. Mechanically fine (internals somewhat loose, safety is particular tends to drop out of frame), bore has good rifling and spots of pitting throughout. Grip screws patinated, lanyard loop partially distorted. Stock has been refinished to an almost cherry appearance, with some patination on iron, but fixes appropriately. EMW
