Lot consists of 8 items: (A) 6 disability certificates, all dated November 1862, from examining surgeons of the enrolled militia for Frederick County for exemption of different men from military service, all with the handwritten annotation "Not" added before printed word "exempt," indicating they had no medical complaints, or that one's "nervous headache" and another's "weak back" were not enough to get them off the rolls. (B) 1 blank discharge for a member of the Frederick Riflemen. (C) 1887 21 page manual "Guard Duty for National Guardsmen" by Page, Lippincott publishers Philadelphia, with enclosed 1889 invitation to a reception and ball held by the Jackson Guard, Co. D, 1st Maryland National Guard. CONDITION: Very good.
