Yataghan of archetypal curved form, flat backed, blade inlaid with bright metal (silver?), left side with inscriptions in what appears to be Persian/Farsi, with accenting geometrics. Short sheet silver piece at spine with cast and chased florals, Y shaped pommel with panoply of arms. Scabbard with wooden core, black leather accents, and 2 large (8" and 10") pieces of sheet silver with floral and geometric decorations, partially pierced and partially cast-and-chased. Drag with a faceted pointed turban-ish finial. CONDITION: Overall very good. Sword has some spots of deep pitting, probably water that infiltrated the scabbard at some point. Inlay is bright white metal, with crisp decoration. Some mild spotting throughout. Sheet silver has taken on an almost golden/nicotine stained appearance with some cracks and lifts that is often seen on sheet silver, top portion loose and slides. An attractive example.
