Pre-War P.08 manufactured Mauser clandestinely for the German military. The receiver is stamped "1937" over the chamber, with Mauser "(Eagle) / 63" waffenamts followed by an eagle firing proof present on the right side. Toggle bears Mauser's clandestine "S/42" manufacturer code. Metal components are salt blued, with the frame being mounted with 2-piece checkered walnut grips. All numbers are matching and include the frame, takedown lever, sideplate, trigger, safety lever and bar, hold-open latch, barrel, receiver, breechblock, firing pin, forward and rear toggle links, left grip panel, as well as the magazine. Right grip panel is unnumbered. This example is accompanied by an early 1930s K date pattern P.08 holster marked with an "(Eagle) / 138" on the rear, indicating manufacture by Karl Ackva AG., with a provision and a cleaning rod strap on the interior of the flap. Manufacturer markings on rear of holster have been obliterated, with the exception of the "(Eagle) / WaA138" waffenamt. Holster contains an "(Eagle) / 63" stamped loading tool and 1 additional matching magazine. CONDITION: Excellent, with metal components retaining bountiful amounts of their original arsenal applied blue finish, exhibiting some minor wear from operation of the action, light edge wear, as well as thinning on the front grip strap and wear on the rear grip strap showing through to a pleasant gray patina. Mirror bore, exhibiting well defined lands and grooves throughout. Grips show some smoothing to the checkering and a few nicks to the diamonds, but are otherwise fine. Leather holster is malleable, exhibiting fair exterior war, some loss to the stitching on the rear panel, as well as age related cracking to the closure flap's strap. An exceptional example of an honest and all matching Mauser pre-War production P.08 Luger. MLW
