K98k bolt action rifle manufactured at Steyr-Daimler-Puch in 1941. The receiver bears Steyr's big block "bnz" manufacturer code above the date code "41". Right side of receiver and left side of barrel bear several Steyr "(Eagle) / WaA623" waffenamts. Metal components are blued, with the stock and upper handguard comprised of solid wood. Rifle exhibits several unusual features, with the barrel measuring 21 - 3/4" in length and the front sight band significantly closer to the bayonet lug than standard K98k rifles. Rear sight has been modified with a much wider "V" notch. The left side of the stock bears a what appears to be a Yugoslavian encircled "BK" stamp followed by the serial number, with "U874" stamped on the right side of the butt. All serialized components are matching and include the receiver, bolt assembly, barrel, rear sight assembly, trigger guard, floorplate, as well as the stock. CONDITION: Excellent, with metal components retaining the vast majority of their original arsenal applied blue finish, exhibiting some areas of mild wear and thinning showing through to pleasant gray and brown patinas. Exterior and interior components exhibit areas of old grease. Brilliant mirror bore, exhibiting well defined rifling throughout. Stock is very good, exhibiting some scattered marks and impressions from storage and handling, as well as several repairs on the right side of the butt. An excellent and highly unusual Steyr K98k bolt action rifle. MLW
