Originally manufactured by Walther in West Germany, this Model PP is 1 of only 25 was subsequently professionally gold plated, engraved, and sold by the American Historical Foundation. The left side of the slide bears standard Walther markings in a bordered panel, with "Made in/ W. Germany" present in the engraving. Right side of slide is engraved "WALTHER" within a banner followed by "EISERNE" (IRON) and "KREUZ" (CROSS) in additional banners forward of the ejection port. Underside of trigger guard is lightly engraved "SG09". Major metal components are gold plated and feature wonderfully executed oak leaf and acorn engraving on a finely stippled background, while some internal components remain blued. Either side of the trigger web, frame spur, and the right side of the chamber exhibit engraved checkered panels. Frame is mounted with 2-piece smooth pearl grips, with the right grip featuring an iron cross engraved on a gold medallion, embellished with small diamond and ruby gemstones around the outer edge. Pistol is accompanied by its original glass top wood display case, featuring a black felt interior, an American Historical Foundation plaque, iron cross embroidered tuft, as well as the case key. CONDITION: Excellent, with metal components retaining virtually all of their gold plated finish, exhibiting few minor superficial marks from handling and storage overall. Mirror bore, exhibiting sharp and well defined rifling throughout. Grips are very good, with the right panel bearing a crack stemming from the base of the grip, which does not appear to effect serviceability. An extremely attractive example of an extremely limited production American Historical Society / Walther Model PP pistol.
