Circa 1990, and subsequently masterfully engraved by Gino Cargnel. An Italian made 12 gauge over/under shotgun with 29 - 1/2" original blued barrels, auto ejectors, 2 - 3/4" chambers, stepped ventilated filed top rib, center bead and a white front bead sight. Mid-rib is ventilated. Top barrel on right reads "Perazzi spa - - MADE IN BRESCIA - ITALY", 12GA, 2 3/4" CHAMBER". Top barrel on left reads "IMPORTER - Perazzi - USA", "ROME - NEW YORK". Bottom barrel with steel designation. Flat with gun's serial number "80967". Chokes are marked with 2 circles for Improved Modified, and 4 circles for Improved Cylinder. The shiny coin finished boxlock action is completely hand engraved and embellished by G. Cargnel and signed ''G. CARGNEL'' on underside of receiver. Cargnel's hammer and chisel hand engraving consists of well cut American scroll with 4 Buffalo Bill themed scenes with heavy goldwork: right side of receiver depicts a Pony Express Rider, left side depicts a bull rider, and the bottom of receiver depicts an Army Scout on horseback. The removable P4 trigger guard has a bust of Buffalo Bill himself. Left wall reads "Perazzi MX8 Special". The P4 removable trigger has 4 settings on the adjustable trigger blade for length of pull with the desirable external barrel selector, allowing fast and easy change for top or bottom barrel. Safe slide is checkered, “S” is in gold, and the word “BLOCCATO” is engraved in between the gun coin finished top lever and the safe slide. Gun is non-auto safe with all matching serial numbers. The custom made Monte Carlo stock and forend are Exhibition Grade AAA fiery English walnut with ornate checkered side panels, matched carving, and tightly checkered; the forearm is the highly desirable Type 4 MX8 forearm instead of the Type 3. The stock has a pistol grip with right hand palm swell and contrasting Rosewood grip cap including blank golden shield for initials, and finished with a black solid rubber pad. This truly "one of a kind" shotgun is featured in the July/August 2017 issue of Clay Shooting USA and titled "The Buffalo Bill Gun" (copy of magazine included), with extensive photos, description, and a short history. Master engraver Gino Cargnel is particularly notable for his engraving work which included top quality clients like Griffin & Howe, Browning, Perazzi, Frank Pachmayr (including the Invincible), Tom Selleck, Ronald Reagan, and others. His work has been in several museums and featured in an extensive article by Kevin Steel called "Firearms Artistry: Elegance in Steel". CONDITION: Very good. Barrels are original factory quality blued with some light fading. Engraving is crisp and an excellent example of Gino Cargnel's mastery. Action, trigger, and ejectors are sound. Stock is very good with sharp checkering which has a minor (almost undetectable) repair professionally executed by original stockmaker to lower left side where stock meets fitted rubber pad. Forend with crisp checkering and carving with faint hairline slit behind Deeley latch and rear of trigger guard.
