Made 1863. Blued 6" octagonal barrel marked with "-ADDRESS COL. SAML. COLT NEW-YORK U.S. AMERICA-" and fit with a German silver bead front sight. 6-shot blued floral engraved percussion cylinder with no traces of roll stamp scene, matching 1613 serial number. Case hardened floral engraved frame, lever, and hammer with frame marked "COLT'S PATENT" on left side and ".31 Cal." on trigger guard. Matching serial numbered silver-plated brass grip straps with ivory 1-piece grip. Grip has "V.R.W" and "N.C." etched on bottom; possibly indicating use by a North Carolina soldier? All numbered parts match with correct numbered wedge. CONDITION: Overall fair with metal parts fading to a pitted brown patina. Cylinder scene is gone with nicks, dings, and some discoloration. Engraving is period. Replaced wedge screw. Brass has golden patina with silver in protected areas. Grips have usage nicks and bruises with golden yellow appearance and some small cracks. Fair bore with visible rifling and good mechanics.
CORRECTION: There is a factory "E" under the serial number, indicating factory engraving.
