Circa 1905. A handsome made Sottish gun and double rifle combination set with .410 side by side barrels and .300 Sherwood barrels. The (A/1) barrel is the .300 with 19 - 3/4" blacked, chopper lump, nitro proof barrels with ejectors. Barrels with hand filed rib, rib extension, rear standing and folding sights, and small raised bladed front sight. Rear folding sights are filed, scroll engraved, and marked for 50, 100, 200 and 300 yards. Bottom rib also furnished with loop for sling. Barrel flat with early Birmingham proofs. Flats also marked "CORDITE 7 - 140 MAX", "300", "6955" (serial number), and "AH" (for Alexander Henry). (B/2) .410 28" London "LP / 85" nitro proof dovetail barrels with 3" chambers is fit with ejectors, smooth concave tapered rib with extension, and small round steel front bead sight. The barrels are choked Full in left barrel and Modified in right. Barrel flats stamped with appropriate London proofs, "413", "410" in diamond," 3" MAG" and "5 TONS". Both barrel sets are marked "ALEX R HENRY & CO MAKERS TO HER LATE MAJESTY" on top of the right barrels and "18 FREDERICK STREET EDINBURGH" on top of left barrels. The case color hardened backaction sidelock ejector action is has scroll engraving with "ALEX R HENRY & CO." in banner on each lockplate and fit with double triggers, automatic safety, and beaded fences. The top strap is engraved "SAFE" inside a rectangle ahead of the scored blacked slide safety. Triggers are protected by an engraved and blacked trigger guard that extends to a long bottom strap that has the guns serial number of "6955". The top lever is engraved, blacked, and checkered on the left side. Action flats have both Birmingham and London view marks as well as the guns serial number "6955" and "AH" (Alexander Henry). The honey colored nicely figured checkered walnut pistol hand grip is fit with an engraved steel grip cap, beaded cheekpiece, drop points, loop for sling, checkered butt, and an engraved gold stock oval of a bird with wings extended and "H.S". The splinter forend is similarly checkered with Anson style release, engraved escutcheon and diamond with fire blued push button. The interior metal of the forend is case color hardened finished with serial number "6955". Gun resides inside an oak and leather trunk case with the maker's trade label in red and gold on inside case lid. The case is outfitted with a pair of nickel rifle snap caps, round nickel plated oil bottle, turnscrews, cleaning rod, and a Kynoch box of .300 Sherwood ammunition. CONDITION: Excellent. Barrels retain mostly all blackening with light handling marks; rifling and bores are good. The stock and forend have light handling marks. Case is good with storage and handling marks and evidence of repair.
