MP40 submachine gun manufactured by Steyr in 1942 and subsequently imported/registered by Inter American. The lower assembly is stamped "MP40/ bnz 42" above the serial number over the top, with numerous "(Eagle)/ WaA623" waffenamts present overall. Underside of receiver is Inter American import stamped, just forward of the magazine well. Metal components are blued, while the lower assembly and grips are comprised of dark brown pressed resin. Resting bar is comprised of zinc. All numbers are matching with the exception of the firing pin/telescoping mainspring assembly. Receiver is mounted with a proper period brown leather sling. NFA Registry lists "GERMANY" in the manufacturer block. CONDITION: Metal components retain the majority of their original blue finish, exhibiting external wear and thinning overall that shows through to a pleasant brown patina, as well as some areas of surface oxidation and cleaned pitting. Very bright bore, exhibiting some mild pitting and retaining strong rifling throughout. Pressed resin lower assembly exhibits superficial marks and nicks from storage and handling, but is otherwise fine. Sling exhibits some scattered handling marks, areas of age related cracking, as well as some spots of crazing. THIS IS A NATIONAL FIREARMS ACT ITEM AND REQUIRES BATF APPROVAL PRIOR TO TRANSFER. THIS ITEM IS TRANSFERABLE ONLY TO ACTIVE FFL/SOT DEALERS ON AN ATF FORM 3 BUT MAY BE RETAINED BY SOLE PROPRIETOR FFL/SOT HOLDERS WHEN THEY RELINQUISH THEIR LICENSES UPON BATF APPROVAL.
