Manufactured in 1887 in first configuration pattern. Blued 29 - 1/2" round barrel chambered in .45-70 bearing standard proofs at the breech. Blade front sight and "R" marked Buffington rear sight. Case hardened breech block is marked "US / MODEL / 1873". Blued lock plate with federal eagle and "U.S. / SPRINGFIELD" markings. Fit with a military walnut stock marked with "SWP / 1886" cartouche. Blued steel mounts including 2 spring retained bands, 2-piece trigger guard, and "US" marked butt plate. CONDITION: Fine. Significant portions of arsenal blue are retained on some components with balance turning a soft plum patina. Significant portions of case colors are likewise retained on the breech block. Stock has some scattered impressions. Excellent bight bore displaying sharp rifling. Mechanically fine. BAS
