Standard configuration P.08 Luger manufactured by DWM in 1913 under contract for the Imperial German military. The receiver is stamped "1913" over the chamber, with DWM arsenal proofs followed by an Imperial Reichsadler on the right. Toggle bears the intertwined "DWM" monogram. Right side of frame bears a small circular incision and arsenal proof, indicating that this example was retrofitted at the arsenal with a hold-open device. Major metal components are rust blued, while some smaller components are strawed or nitre blued. Frame is mounted with 2-piece checkered walnut grips. Front sight has been nicely modified and has had its blade ground down. All numbers are matching (including the grips), with the exception of the magazine, which is a later 1930s/1940s replacement. CONDITION: Very good, with major metal components retaining the vast majority of their period arsenal blue finish, exhibiting some spots of mild wear and thinning that show through to pleasant gray and brown patinas, a couple spots of mild pitting, as well as a some very mild surface oxidation that is mostly present on the grip straps. Strawed components exhibit varying degrees of wear, with the trigger and safety lever exhibiting some striations from cleaning. Brilliant mirror bore, exhibiting some extremely light spots of surface oxidation throughout. Grips exhibit moderate smoothing but are otherwise very good. A very attractive example of a Pre-World War I production DWM P.08 Luger.
