Model 1900 American Eagle Luger manufactured by DWM under contract for the US military's 1901 test trials. This pistol, from the first batch of pistols delivered to the US military, bears the US Great Seal over the chamber with the intertwined "DWM" monogram on the toggle. Major metal components are blued, while some smaller components are strawed or nitre blued. Frame is mounted with 2-piece checkered walnut grips. All numbers match, including the grips. Magazine is an unmarked replacement. This example is accompanied by a contemporary brown leather "US" marked holster manufactured by El Paso Saddlery Co. CONDITION: Metal components retain fair amounts of their original factory blue finish, exhibiting wear and thinning overall that shows through to pleasant brown and gray patinas, as well as areas of mild to moderate pitting overall. Strawed components retain traces of their finish, with the balance exhibiting a gray patina with age-related discoloration. Bore exhibits pitting and fair to good rifling throughout. Grips show some smoothing and some scattered marks from handling and storage but are otherwise sturdy and serviceable. The holster shows some scattered marks from handling and storage but is otherwise fine.
