Model II semi-automatic rifle manufactured by Walther during the 1930s. One of the most expensive rifles of the period, Walther's Model II rifle stood out amongst its contemporaries in that it could be fired as either a bolt action or a semi-automatic rifle. The rear of the receiver is stamped with the Walther banner logo, with "Waffenfabrik" being the only other legible manufacturer marking. The left side of the barrel is stamped with a crowned eagle followed by a "(Crown)/ N" commercial nitro proof and "Nitro" in italics. Right side bears crown over "B" , "U" , and "G" proofs, with additional crowned proofs present on the top and rear right side of the receiver. Metal components appear to have been period reblued, with the receiver housed within a solid 1-piece stock. An original rear sight adjustment key accompanies the rifle. CONDITION: Very good, as seemingly period refinished, exhibiting some spots of mild wear, some superficial handling marks, and a few areas of mild surface pitting. Bright bore, exhibiting some scattered spots of pitting and retaining strong rifling throughout. The stock is excellent, with some light superficial marks from handling and storage. The buttplate exhibits cracking around the edges but otherwise appears sturdy and serviceable.
