Standard configuration K98k manufactured by J.P. Sauer & Sohn for the Heer in 1938. The receiver is stamped with J.P. Sauer & Sohn's clandestine manufacturer code "147" above the 4-digit year of manufacture "1938" over the chamber, with 2 Sauer "(Eagle)/ 214" waffenamts preceded by an "(Eagle)/ 359" waffenamt, indicating that Walther manufactured this receiver. The left side of the receiver and barrel bear droop eagle firing proofs, followed by the serial number. Metal components are blued, while the stock and handguard are solid walnut. Matching numbers include the receiver, barrel, rear sight assembly, rear barrel band, trigger guard, floorplate, bolt handling, and buttplate. The rifle is accompanied by a non-matching "S238G" (DURKOPPWERKE) maker-marked bayonet with a non-matching scabbard. CONDITION: Metal components retain large amounts of their period arsenal blue finish, exhibiting areas of wear and thinning overall that show through to gray and brown patinas and some spots of pitting overall. Bore is bright, exhibiting consistent mild oxidation throughout, with some spots of moderate pitting, and retains strong rifling throughout. Stock is very good, as lightly sanded and revarnished, exhibiting some scattered marks and mild impressions overall from handling and storage. The bayonet exhibits wear with some scattered pitting present on the grip. The scabbard exhibits a gray patina.
