Lot consists of 4 Civil War era M1840 and M1860 cavalry sabers (A) M1840 "Wristbreaker" in standard configuration with unmarked ricasso. Blade exhibits a gray patina with scattered blemishes. Guard exhibits a light patina with possible older cleaning. Grip is intact with nice leather wrap and tight brass wire. Complete with scabbard that exhibits a chocolate patina. (B) M1840 "Wristbreaker" in standard configuration with unmarked ricasso. Blade exhibits a dark patina with scattered blemishes and edge wear. Guard exhibits a dark patina. Grip is intact with worn leather wrap and tight brass wire. Complete with scabbard that exhibits a chocolate patina and scattered dents. (C) M1840 "Wristbreaker" in standard configuration with "AMES MFG CO / CHICOPEE / MASS." and US / JH / 1858" marked ricasso. Blade exhibits a dark patina with scattered blemishes. Guard exhibits a mellow patina. Grip is intact with nice leather wrap and tight brass wire. A few cracks in wood. No scabbard. (D) M1860 cavalry saber in standard configuration with "AMES MFG CO / CHICOPEE / MASS." and US / MM / 1864" marked ricasso. Blade is bright with scattered blemishes. Guard exhibits a mellow patina. Grip is intact with wear to leather wrap and tight brass wire. Complete with scabbard that exhibits a chocolate patina. CONDITION: Varying from fair-good.
