Produced circa the early 1870s as New Model Navy production transitioned from percussion to cartridge revolvers with the expiration of the White patent for bored-through cylinders in 1869. This example is fitted with a 7 - 1/2" octagon barrel marked on the top flat with 3-line "NEW MODEL" address. Blade front sight and frame notch rear. Cylinder is chambered for .38 rimfire ammunition with a factory loading gate and ejector rod. Frame is lightly engraved with foliate tendrils and line and dot patterns. Standard 2-piece smooth walnut grips. CONDITION: Very good. Metal exhibits a mottled gray patina with some cleaned oxidation. Trigger guard has areas of darkening patina. Grips are fine, retaining significant portions of original finish. Strong bore with areas of black powder oxidation. Mechanically fine. Matching serial numbers observed on frame, barrel, and penciled inside of grips.
