Second model saddle ring carbine manufactured circa 1868. 20" round barrel chambered in .44 rimfire with full-length magazine tube and 2-line Henry and King's patent information stamp. Blade front sight and 2-position carbine rear. Hammer with half cock notch, possibly a replacement. Smooth walnut carbine forend. Matching plain walnut stock with carved "HM" initials at the wrist and a brass rifle crescent butt plate with tool compartment. CONDITION: Very good overall. Barrel and magazine tube have drifted to a pleasing silver-gray patina. Frame exhibits a rich golden color with minor marks. Loading gate retains 20% brilliant nitre blue. Stocks are good, showing wear, with a repair and a sliver of loss along the wrist. A small sliver of loss is also present on the right side of forend. Bore displays crisp rifling with some areas of abrasion. Mechanically fine. Matching numbers observed on tang inside of frame and on butt plate.
