Extremely fine, decorative, underlever, hammer fired shotgun built in Germany by J.H. Steffens in the 19th century. 31" fine Damascus 16 gauge barrels with smooth rib marked "J.H. STEFFENS ALTONA am ELBE" with bead front sight, gold banded breeches, and extractors. Fine floral and bird scene engraved underlever frame with engraved back action locks, horn underlever, and shaped horn-and-steel triggerguard. Figured walnut stock with engraved steel buttplate and checkered wrist with matching fixed splinter checkered walnut forearm and European style sling swivels. CONDITION: Excellent with 95% remaining from total professional refinish with some slight natural flaws in wood. Beautiful bores with crisp mechanics. A highly decorative and artistic gun!
