Shipped from the Winchester warehouse on April 30, 1906. Fit with a blued 26" octagon nickel steel barrel chambered for the very desirable .50 Winchester High Velocity Express smokeless cartridge. Blade front sight and scarce correct Winchester express rear sight. Forend and buttstock are of straight grain walnut with a crescent rifle butt plate. An included copy of a 1997 factory letter confirms options, the sights not listed. CONDITION: Very fine for its age. Barrel and magazine tube retain the vast majority of their factory blue with some light toning and high-edge wear. Receiver retains portions of original blue, having been cleaned at some point with some evidence of older oxidation. Hammer displays significant amounts of mellowing case colors; the lever mostly faded to a gray patina with a few flashes of color. Stocks appear lightly cleaned with evidence of field use. Especially fine, bright bore with strong well-defined rifling throughout and a few minor imperfections. Crisp mechanics. A great "bucket list" big bore '86 in rare .50 Express chambering.
