Manufactured 1860. Engraved in the Gustave Young shop with flowing arabesque scroll on a punch dot background, with distinct dog head on left side of barrel assembly, wolf's head hammer, and ivory grips. Ivory grips with wooden spacer have been reglued along right side of spacer. Iconic '49 pocket with 4" barrel, dovetailed front sight, notch rear sight on hammer, silver plated brass trigger guard and backstrap, and stagecoach holdup scene; matching full or partial serial numbers observed on rammer, barrel assembly, wedge, trigger guard, butt, and cylinder. Housed in a period wooden case with a tin of Goldmark's percussion caps, embossed "E PLURIBUS UNUM" flask, Colt's Patent 2 leg dual cavity brass bullet mold, and key. CONDITION: Barrel retains approximately 20% bluing, mostly concentrated in protected areas,with flashes scattered throughout, balance a mixture of dove grey and some chocolate patina. Cylinder with somewhat heavier oxidation, safety pins gone. Frame is devoid of all but the faintest traces of case colors. Silver has lifted from straps with flashes in protected areas, particularly inside the trigger guard. Ivory grips have good grain and a deep, almost orange, patina, with strong grain and some black lines common to old ivory. Case has handling marks throughout, a chip in lid, and repairs, noticeably at back right; one chip at escutcheon. Accessories are very good, flask is missing its spring. Partitions are separation, some rubs to lining from revolver.
