Brass bound oak case with sliding latches and key lock, inset escutcheon plate on top: "Necroscopic Case / Medical Department / U.S.N." Comes with brown leather carrying case with same label embossed in gilt letters fastened by billets and buckles. Kny-Scheerer Corporation label on edge of lower tray. 5 scalpels, 2 tenacula, hammer, nippers, flat blade spatula, chains, and 2 curved surgical needles. Saw, chisel, and narrow tin tube inside the lid compartment. Likely Ca. 1900-20, all instruments appear to be chrome-plated steel. CONDITION: Good. Loss to plating and shallow brown surface rust to saw blade, chisel, and nippers. Otherwise bright. Key inside the box. Wood case nice. Patina to brass. Wear to leather case with one billet broken.
