Per factory letter, manufactured circa 1950 as a Skeet grade shotgun, with 26" barrels, Modified and Full chokes, matte rib, non-automatic safety, selective ejector, single trigger, straight grip stock, and checkered buttplate; it was subsequently restocked, and the configuration for the restock are not noted. Current configuration reflects letter with 26" dovetail chopper lump barrels, marked on bottom of tubes for Full and Mod and Winchester proof steel. Ivory bead front sight with steel mid bead on a concave matte tapered game rib, dressed with light geometrics at breeches. Barrel flats with matching serial number, Winchester proofs. Beavertail forearm with wave checkering and fluer-de-lis intrusions. Exterior iron engraved with scroll on a cross-hatch background; roller release. Boxlock receiver with faint "SKEET" marking ahead of trigger guard, and subsequently upgraded to an approximate Grand American class work with a raised yellow gold fox on left side, a pair of snipes on bottom, and a shorthair pointer on right, accented by near complete coverage of arabesque scroll and florals on a punchdot background. Water tables with Model 21 markings. Non-automatic safety, single selective mechanical trigger with push-button safety, and serial number under lever. Pistol grip stock of a lightly grained feather crotch walnut with checkering at wrist with intrusions en suite with forearm. Cast is neutral. Pistol grip cap, golden oval in toe line, and pliable recoil pad with Purdey-style covered screws. Housed in a brass tabbed leather-wrapped case partitioned for gun, 2 snap caps, oil bottle, and 2 compartments for another pair of snap caps and a snapcap box. Winchester trade label in lid. CONDITION: Very good as upgraded. Barrels retain virtually all of the newer bluing with some marks from handling and storage throughout. Consistent light freckling over the breeches, under the blue, approximately 3" on both sides. Engraving is crisp and well done, but unsigned. Stocks with some handling marks and a few abraded heads, checkering retraced. Mechanically fine, ejectors are in time but somewhat weak; bores are very good with some mild frosting, ring well. Case is very good with some handling marks, and partitions custom cut. Baize relined. Exterior with some rubs, right side of carry strap has broken at ring.
