4th model carbine manufactured in 1882. Standard 20" round barrel chambered in .44 RF with 2-line address, blade front sight, ladder rear (missing the elevator), and full length magazine tube retained by a pair of barrel bands. Iconic brass receiver with saddle ring. Plain walnut forend and buttstock with steel tool trap crescent butt plate. Tang stamped with "4679 C" assembly number, the stock channel also stamped "4679" over another assembly number, likely indicating a replacement stock. Butt plate numbered internally "159". CONDITION: Good. Iron components display a dark gray patina with evidence of older oxidation. Receiver exhibits a polished golden patina with honest wear evident. Stocks appear cleaned, some light impressions still visible. A small split present at the wrist with some chipping and splits at the heel. Stock screws appear to be replacements. Strong, well-defined rifling with some abrasion from use of period black powder ammunition. Mechanically fine with a repaired main spring.
