Standard configuration Single Action Army revolver chambered in .45 Colt manufactured by Colt in 1922. The left side of the barrel is stamped with the caliber designation "45 COLT", and Colt's single-line address is present across the top. Left side of frame bears patent information followed by the Rampant Colt logo. Frame and hammer are case color hardened, while the barrel, ejector rod housing, cylinder, trigger guard, and grip straps blued. Frame is mounted with Colt medallion 2-piece checkered fleur-de-lis grips. Matching serial number "344159" is present on the underside of the frame and the right side of the grip straps, with the last 2 digits "59" stamped on the cylinder's rear face. Matching assembly number "838" is present on the loading gate and rear of the frame. This example is accompanied by a Colt factory letter that indicates that this was the sole revolver shipped to "Janney, Semple, Hill and Co./ Minneapolis, Minnesota" on November 27th, 1922, as well as a printed photograph of the Semple, Hill & Co. Hardware store. PROVENANCE: From the advanced collection of the esteemed and respected Dr. Jim Watson of Scottsdale, Arizona. CONDITION: Extremely fine, with blued components retaining bountiful amounts of their original factory finish, exhibiting some small concentrated spots of light edge wear, as well as a few mild superficial marks from storage and handling. Cylinder bears a light dragline. Frame and hammer retain strong case coloring overall, with some mild scattered spots fading in a few areas and a small spot of age-related discoloration on the right side of the frame. Brilliant mirror bore, exhibiting sharp and well-defined lands and grooves throughout. Grips exhibit a few scattered marks from storage and handling, with the left grip panel exhibiting an impression on the checkered towards the bottom of the grip. An absolutely stunning Pre-War Colt Single Action Army revolver.
