Made by Colt Firearms Company from 1847 to 1850 with approximately 15,000 made. Blued finish 6" octagonal .31 caliber barrel with factory bead front sight and Colt 2-line New York address (appears double stamped; possible factory error?). Case hardened Colt's Patent marked frame with silver plated square back trigger guard, matching Texas Ranger/Indian scene cylinder, and no provision for a loading lever. Standard varnished walnut 1-piece grip. All matching serial number markings. PROVENANCE: From the advanced collection of the esteemed and respected Dr. Jim Watson of Scottsdale, Arizona. CONDITION: 95% original blue with light edge wear, light visible turn line, and light pitting areas along barrel. Sharp visible cylinder scene with finish turning gray. 50% original faded case colors with 90% silver plate remaining. 90% original finish on grips with light scratches. Good bore with crisp mechanics and sharp rifling. A nice Colt.
