Circa 1861. Fitted with a 7 - 1/2" round barrel with 1-line Hartford address, German silver blade front sight, and hammer notch rear. One of approximately 4,000 1860s Army's featuring a fluted percussion cylinder. Frame cut for shoulder stock with matching steel backstrap. Grips are smooth 1-piece walnut. "B.O.D. COLO." stamped on the backstrap along with "0-1865" date on the butt, very possibly indicating use by the Butterfield Overland Despatch, a stage service running from Kansas to Denver, Colorado until 1866. PROVENANCE: From the personal and advanced collection of Dr. Jim Watson of Scottsdale, Arizona. CONDITION: Very Good overall. Revolver displays a pleasing even gray patina with traces of original finish. Trigger guard has a golden patina. Grips are dark with scattered light impressions and a repair at the left toe. Strong bore showing some oxidation. Mechanically fine. Matching numbers observed throughout. Already a scarce and desirable black powder Colt, the tantalizing possibility of stagecoach history makes this a fine addition to any Western collection.
