Standard configuration P.08 Luger manufactured by DWM during the final year of the Great War. The receiver is stamped "1918", with the right side bearing DWM arsenal proofs followed by an imperial German reichsadler. Toggle bears the intertwined "DWM" monogram. The front grip strap is unit marked "J.R.419.8.K.N.13." indicating issue to the 419th Infantry Regiment, 8th Company, Weapon number 13. The frame bears a vertical "311/ 26/ 5659" stamp on the left side beneath the grip panel. Interior of the left grip panel is hand-scribed "CEW". Major metal components exhibit a rust-blue finish, while some smaller components are strawed. The frame is mounted with 2-piece checkered walnut grips. All numbers match (including the grips) except for the magazine. The takedown lever has been renumbered and reheated to match at one point. Barrel has been overstamped, possibly at the factory, with small pieces of the former serial number visible beneath. CONDITION: Major metal components retain the majority of their arsenal applied blue finish, exhibiting some small spots of wear and some areas of mild thinning that show through to a brownish-gray patina. Strawed components are excellent. Brilliant mirror bore, exhibiting well-defined lands and grooves throughout. Grips show mild smoothing, with the left grip panel exhibiting a loss to the rear of the safety lever. Overall, a very nice and extremely attractive DWM World War I production P.08 Luger.
