Circa 1973. Factory applied bright nickel finish. As is most often observed with nickel 53s, the factory nickel appears to have been applied after the gun was blued with "R-N" marking on the butt as well as stars on the barrels and cylinders. Revolver is currently fitted with a pinned 8 - 3/8" ribbed barrel with red insert ramped front sight and adjustable square notch rear. Serial number matching 4" and 6" barrels are also included. .22 Jet cylinder, with a numbers matching .22 LR cylinder also included. 2-piece checkered target stocks inset with S&W medallions. Revolver is housed in a custom blue velvet lined partitioned dovetailed wood display case with sections for the spare barrels and cylinder, as well as 6 .22 LR inserts for the .22 Jet cylinder. CONDITION: Excellent. Nearly all of the brilliant factory nickel is retained throughout with only minor handling marks and a faint turn line. Grips likewise only have a couple light marks. Excellent bores. Mechanically fine. Case has some moderate wear from storage but displays very well. A very nice set.
