Special ordered Parker DHE grade 20-gauge hammerless shotgun by Parker Brothers Gun Company in 1923. 1 of only 16 DHE Grade 20 gauge guns made with factory 24" barrels and only 1 of 1536 made in 20 gauge according to "The Parker Story." Gun has 24" blued Titanic Steel barrels with matted rib, ejectors, 2 - 1/2" chambers, and is choked Improved Modified and Modified with single bead front sight. Cited in "Parker Serialization" book with 24" barrels. Case-hardened boxlock size 0 frame with standard DHE grade full coverage floral engraving with dog scene on right and left panels and a flying and strutting bird scene on bottom. Action is fitted with double triggers, automatic safety, and blued vignette engraved trigger guard. Figured standard DH-grade pattern checkered American walnut pistol grip stock with German silver oval vanity plate, period leather-faced Jostam vented rubber recoil pad, Parker logo hard rubber pistol grip cap, and standard diamond carved side panel tails. Matching standard checkering pattern walnut splinter forearm with Deeley latch. Comes with a canvas-fitted trunk case with snap caps. PGCA letter verifies all options. CONDITION: 95% original blue with light assembly and edge wear at muzzles. Action has sharp engraving with 10% original case colors, with the majority faded to a silver patina. Trigger guard has completely worn to a silver patina. Stock retains 90% of original varnish with sharp checkering. The stock has several dings and bruises from use with the pad added, probably in the period, with original widow's peak still visible. Stock and forearm appear to have had a coat of linseed oil added. Gun has excellent bores and mechanics, with case in excellent condition. A rare Parker for the serious collector.
