Circa 1933. Golden age Best London gun with 2 sets of 28" nitro proofed barrels. Barrels built with ejectors, 2 - 5/8" chambers, and with shortened top rib. (A/1) Identified with gold star. (B/2) with number gold inlaid "2". Both with slight extensions and light scroll. Both sets of barrels with small round steel front bead sights. Tops of barrels read "Boss & Co. 41 ALBERMARLE STREET. PICCADILLY.LONDON.W.", "MADE IN ENGLAND". Top barrel on right reads "12C", "2 5/8", "CHOKE", "NP", "NITRO PROOF", and "1 1/8". Barrel flat with matching information. Barrel flat on (B/2) additionally stamped "8708". Barrel wings with light border scroll. Bottom barrel on both stamped with gun's serial number. (A/1) chokes are Improved Modified on top and Modified on bottom. (B/2) are Improved Cylinder in both barrels. Case colored sidelock action with Boss's rose bouquets and scroll engraving. "BOSS & CO." engraved near bar and aside gold line cocking indicator. Action with disk set strikers, single triple trigger, and a blacked, engraved, and checkered top lever and slide safe. Blacked scroll engraved trigger guard with right-hand rolled-edge and long bottom strap with serial number engraved. Traditional reddish brown European stock with drop points and fine checkered English straight grip is completed by a 3/4 length checkered butt. Barrels are fit with 1 forend. Older forend with tight checkering and scroll engraved escutcheon, Anson push release, and scroll engraved pins. Bottom exterior iron metal engraved with scrolls and reads "BOSS PATENT NO 3308.1909". Forend wing arms are blacked and scroll engraved. Gun lives nicely in an oak and leather maker's case with "BOSS & CO." paper trade label, canvas and leather outer, snap caps, and round nickel oil bottle. CONDITION: Excellent, as refurbished. Barrels excellent with mostly all new black remaining and very slight storage marks. Bores are shiny. Action with lots of case colors as redone. Action, trigger, and ejectors are sound. Stock excellent as restocked. Some light handling marks. Forend very good, appears to have had some help as there is indication of repair under pin and on interior at same positioning. Case excellent. Nice set.
