Made at Springfield Arsenal in 1855. 12" round blued barrel with standard folding leaf sights, 1855 dated tang, correct "VP / (Eagle)" breech proofs, and attached swivel-type ramrod. Maynard tape priming system percussion lock with 1855 date, eagle, and "U.S./SPRINGFIELD" markings. Factory walnut one-piece stock with brass hardware. Butt has cuts for shoulder stock. CONDITION: Overall good with 10% original military finish fading to silvery patina. Good stock with visible proof mark, lightly cleaned, with crack through handle. Good mechanics with frosted bore and visible rifling.
