Circa 1962. This beautiful game gun was originally and formerly owned by Holland & Holland's Managing Director Malcolm Lyell. This lovely guns nitro proofed chopper lump barrels are designated with ejectors and Holland & Holland's patented self-assisted opening mechanism. Barrels are also built with 2 - 3/4" chambers and a tapering concave swamped rib. Rib fit with steel front bead sight. Barrels read "HOLLAND & HOLLAND" on right and "13 BRUTON STREET, LONDON on left. Rib reads "Royal de Luxe" and is engraved with Royal scrolls near breech. Barrel flats with London proof marks, ".729", "NP", "12", "2 3/4"", and "3 1/4 TONS". Bottom of barrels read "36476" and "MADE IN ENGLAND". Chokes are Modified in left barrel and Improved Cylinder in right. The elegant coin-finished sidelock action is adorned with gold dotted floral scroll, gold line cocking indicators, Holland & Holland hand detachment lever, bladed single trigger, matched engraved and checkered top lever and safe slide. "SAFE" in gold. "HOLLAND & HOLLAND" is engraved in banner ribbon. Gun is non-auto safe. Gun's action is built with a single inertia trigger with the bypass feature. Deluxe walnut stock with hand oiled finish, point patterned diamond English straight hand grip with gold engraved oval "J.S.D." is finished by a checkered butt. Single trigger is protected by a right-hand rolled-edged scroll engraved trigger guard. 3/4 length bottom strap with matched engraving also has serial number engraved. Bottom action engraved with matching gold dotted vine and floral scroll with "ROYAL DE LUXE" at base just ahead of trigger guard. The matching splinter forend with engraved escutcheon is built with an Anson push button release. CONDITION: Very Good. Barrels with mostly all of their black and with shiny bores that ring like bells. Action, trigger and ejectors are mechanically sound. Stock and forend are very good with light handling marks. Very nice gun with a piece of gun making history on top.
