Manufactured in 1895 according to Madis. 20" blued barrel chambered in .38-55 with 2-line address and full-length magazine tube. Blade front sight and carbine ladder rear. Carbine receiver with saddle ring and early "MODEl 1894 / WINCHESTER / PAT. AUG. 21. 1894" tang marking. Plain 2-piece walnut stocks. Iron mounts include a pair of barrel bands and crescent carbine butt plate. CONDITION: Good overall. This gun came from the West Coast and shows honest wear commensurate with Western ranch use. Traces of faded original finish present in the protected areas of the barrel, the balance displaying a silvery brown patina with some cleaned oxidation spots. Stocks have dings and wear throughout. Small splits present at the left side of wrist and forend tip. Frosted bore with well defined rifling. Mechanically fine. A hard-to-find antique 1894 saddle ring carbine in desirable .38-55 chambering, exuding Western character.
