Lot consists of (A) Slightly curved blade with wide shallow single fuller on each side. Blued panels with etched rectangular panels within and gilded engraved designs, including an American eagle on one side and a panoply of arms on the other. Spine of blade stamped "PEMBERTON & Co." Brass hilt with chased languets, reverse-p knucklebow of alternating stars and balls, and horse head pommel with integral backstrap. Gadrooned bone grip. Complete with its leather scabbard with original silver-plated mounts. CONDITION: Blade has traces of blue and generous amounts of fading gold wash, some nicks to cutting edge. Hilt retains a dark unpolished copper patina, grip excellent with a couple hairline age cracks. Scabbard mounts retain generous traces of silver plating, leather excellent. (B) Blade features 2 etched panels on each side with long blued sections and engraved and gilded patriotic motifs. Brass hilt with quillon decorated on both sides with a flower, knucklebow of alternating leaves and balls and a horse head pommel. Bone grip with large checkered section and a band of repeating carved arrows. Complete with its original leather scabbard with silvered brass mounts. CONDITION: Blade retains much of its original blued and gilded finishes, some areas turned to brown, especially last 4" at the top. Some frosting to polished portions. Hilt retains an untouched dark mustard patina. Grip has a couple hairline age cracks and nearly invisible chips. Scabbard shows some losses to finish and crazing, mounts retain generous amounts of silver. A nice lot of horse head sabers.
