Circa 1920 per "British Gunmakers: Volume One - London" by Brown. 28" dovetail lump barrels with a smooth, concave tapering game rib with a depressed bead front sight, and engraved with "Joseph Lang & Son. 102. New Bond Street. London" over chambers. Breeches decorated with light floral engraving, and a sprig of acanthus on rib. Barrel flats with modern London proofs for a nitro-proofed choked 12 gauge, with previous proofs faintly visible but indecipherable. Barrel tubes with "J.L & S" for Joseph Lang & Son, and serial numbers. Slim forend with point pattern checkering and an Anson plunger release, exterior engraved with light wriggle work and some small scrollwork; interior with matching serial number. Action flats with serial number and view proofs. Sidelock action engraved with bouquets of scroll, and decorated with well executed wriggle linework, and scroll on fences. Gold line cocking indicators, some pins fire blued. Sideplates signed "Joseph Lang & Son." at bar. Automatic safety with "SAFE" inlaid in gold ahead of slide. Single mechanical trigger with long tang, engraved en suite. Nicely figured walnut stock with English straight grip checkered in point pattern about the wrist, built with teardrops behind the plates, "JHN" engraved vanity plate on toe line, and 2-piece skeleton buttplate. CONDITION: Very good as restored. Barrels with the vast majority of a more recent bluing, with some handling marks from the field. Lock has been polished bright with some polishing marks visible, and some whispers of case colors in the most protected areas. Stocks are very good with some handling marks, but free of cracks or chips. Barrels ring like church bells and are tight on face. Mechanically fine, bores are very good, bright and shiny, ejectors are in time. A well handling gun with plenty of life left in it.
