Colt 1921/28 Navy overstamp Thompson machine gun unfortunately electro-penciled, "CITY OF EL CERRITO” on the left side of the receiver below serial number. Brass presentation plaque inset into the left side of the buttstock bears an inscription indicating presentation to El Cerrito by American Legion “24-8- ‘35”. Gordon Herigstad's serial number listing of serial numbers & histories indicates, "El Cerrito” as well as “Law Enforcement Ordnance Co (Roger Cox)”, and “Warren Kreisler collection 12/2/84”. This gun has 1928 internal parts and correctly "anchor" marked original buttstock. Typical markings on receiver with visible serial numbers matching. Crisp clear lettering and sharp edges throughout. One original “New York, NY: July 27, 1920 Dec 7, 1920” marked matte finish Worchester Pressed Steel 50 round “L” drum is included with this lot. Electronic NFA registry indicates “THOMPSON” as the manufacturer. CONDITION: Overall appearance and finish is extremely fine deep lustrous blue original finish thinning to a gray patina on the barrel, at the actuator slot, and the stock attachment points. Wood near excellent with the added plaque as noted above. Bore is extremely fine, shiny and bright. Bolt face is near excellent. Drum is extremely fine to near excellent with no dents. Mechanics are crisp. This is a select fire machine gun. An especially handsome original finish Colt Thompson with valuable original drum despite the added police property markings. THIS IS A NATIONAL FIREARMS ACT ITEM AND REQUIRES BATF APPROVAL PRIOR TO TRANSFER. THIS ITEM IS FULLY TRANSFERABLE ON AN ATF FORM 3 OR 4 AS CURIO AND RELIC ELIGIBLE. JWK 2024-05-071.
