Per "U.S. Military Automatic Pistols 1894-1920" by Meadows, this pistol was part of the 1000 gun shipment sent to the U.S. Navy Yard, Brooklyn, New York, on May 1st, 1912. Half moon front sight, round top U notch rear sight, left side with two-line two-block patent and address information, February 14th 1911 last date, and encircled rampant Colt at rear, right side with "MODEL OF 1911. U.S. NAVY". Marked with a horizontal "H" at top of firing pin retaining plate channel. Barrel with intertwined "HP" sharing on a leg on hood, "K" and "G" ahead of lug. Frame with "H" and "R" near disconnector. Left side of dust cover with "UNITED STATES PROPERTY", "WGP" above magazine release, and serial number "No. 2635" on right side of dust cover. Small parts comprise spurred checkered hammer, thin tab safety with milled relief cut, slide release with milled relief cut, long smooth trigger, checkered magazine release with first model magazine release catch, short 1911 grip safety, and smooth flat mainspring housing with lanyard loop. Truncated diamond walnut magazines, magazine with dual pinned base, refinished in a matte blue. CONDITION: Overall very good, especially considering the age of the piece. Retains approximately half of the original factory blue finish throughout, with most retained in protected areas on frame, mixed with smooth dove grey and a mild chocolate mossing throughout. Appropriate distension to proofs from application throughout. Straps essentially dove grey with spotted mossing. Mechanically fine, bore is very good with strong rifling and some mild frosting at grooves. This is a very rare 1911, and most of these guns saw extremely hard use.
