Manufactured by renowned Parisian gunsmith Louis Perrin around the time of the Civil War, as is marked "L. PERRIN" on both the frame and cylinder. This specimen is finished in nickel and wonderfully engraved with deep semi-relief flowing foliates over shaded backgrounds. Barrel engraved with elaborate bands at muzzle and breech, the frame and cylinder featuring nearly full coverage. Double action only with spurless hammer and figural trigger guard. 1-piece checkered walnut grips. Engraved grip cap with lanyard loop. Housed in an attractive blue velvet lined, French fit, dovetailed oak case with brass handle. "L. PERRIN / BREVETTE / 51 RUE LAFFITE / PARIS" marked in gold on the lid liner. Complete with key and cleaning rod. CONDITION: Very fine. Revolver retains the vast majority of its plating with some flaking. Grips have some light wear and scattered marks. Well defined bore with some black powder abrasion. Fine mechanics. Case has some light marks from storage but displays very well. A wonderful example of a scarce and well finished Perrin revolver.
