Manufactured between 1866 and 1884 by William Hill, as engraved on the top strap in a flowing banner "W.J. HILL'S PATENT. 9 ST MARY'S ROW", surrounded by foliates on a matted background. Barrel is bright high polish blued with a fluted engraved band around the muzzle and panels of scroll. Mounted with a tall bead front sight and ejector lever. Frame is profusely embellished with foliate tendrils over a matted background, the left engraved "LONDON No 559". Double action. Finely checkered 2-piece walnut grips. Housed in a relined partitioned quarter sawn oak display case with reproduction William Hill label, 41 spent rounds, cleaning rod, turnscrew, and oiler. CONDITION: Excellent for its age. Revolver retains the vast majority of its brilliant English blue with some areas of toning, especially on and around the cylinder, trigger guard, and back strap. Grips are very fine with sharp checkering. Good, strong bore. Fine mechanics. Case has only minor marks and displays very well. A highly attractive set.
