Circa 1901. A vintage British dangerous game rifle made by the famous maker. Blued chopper lump 26” barrels with ejectors, third fastener, sling swivel, spear point top rib, and raised stippled bladed front sight with flip up low light sight. Spear point rib with 1 standing rear sight fixed for 100 yards and 2 folding sights for 200 and 300 yards. Rib is also filed and stippled at point. Right barrel reads “HOLLAND & HOLLAND 98 NEW BOND STREET LONDON.”. Left barrel reads “WINNERS OF ALL THE “FIELD” RIFLE TRIALS. LONDON.”. Barrel flats are stamped "270GRS BULLET MAX, .375, 40GRS CORDITE", and with proof marking stamps. Side lock case colored action with disk set strikers, gold line cocking indicators, double triggers (front checkered), hidden 3rd fastener, engraved and checkered top lever, nitre blued engraved and checkered safe slide, “SAFE” in gold and bolted safe. Rifle is built with auto-safe. Case colored action is engraved with bold floral scroll and reads “HOLLAND & HOLLAND” at bar. Bottom action reads “ROYAL HAMMERLESS EJECTOR”. Blacked engraved trigger guard extends to a full-length bottom strap with the rifle's serial number. The reddish brown walnut stock with smoky and straight grain has drop points and is also furnished with a long case colored top strap, slender checkered pistol hand grip, case colored grip cap with door, engraved "TZC" gold oval, sling swivel, and finished by a horn serrated butt plate. Long splinter forend with checkered Anson style push release and matched checkering has engraved and case hardened escutcheon, pin screw and iron metal. Interior iron metal is case hardened and with the rifle's serial number stamped. CONDITION: Excellent as restored. Barrels are excellent and rifling is sharp. Action, triggers and ejectors operate well. Stock and forend are excellent with very light handling marks.
