Four position pictograph selector telescoping stock Heckler & Koch MP5 registered receiver machine gun manufactured in 1985 according to “IF” proof code on top of receiver. Marked, “Made in W. Germany / HK Chantilly, Va” on right side of Magazine well, and “HK MP5” on top of receiver. This cataloger needs to emphasize the fact that this is a factory original MP5, not a remanufacture, or installed auto-sear gun. This specimen incorporates a telescoping stock and horizontal forend. One original, “Made in Germany” magazine included. Electronic NFA registry indicates “IMPORTED NFA FIREARM” as the manufacturer. The Bureau of Alcohol Tobacco, Firearms & Explosives (BATF) is in the process of removing restrictions on what they expect to be approximately 4,000 previously “Pre-86 dealer sample” restricted machine guns. This is one such gun. Imported guns which were designated as Pre-86 dealer samples and which fall into the category of having been in the possession of Law Enforcement for a significant period of time are eligible to have their restrictions removed and become “Fully Transferable” to individuals. Manufacturer’s information such as “Imported NFA Firearm” is not being changed incidental to this process. CONDITION: Overall appearance and finish is extremely fine original black hard coat finish with some loss of finish in spots along the top of the receiver. Composite furnishings of buttstock and pistol grip are near excellent. Bore is near excellent, shiny and bright. Bolt near excellent. Mechanics are crisp. This is a select fire machine gun. Very desirable factory original Heckler & Koch manufactured MP5. THIS IS A NATIONAL FIREARMS ACT ITEM AND REQUIRES BATF APPROVAL PRIOR TO TRANSFER. THIS ITEM IS UNRESTICTED - FULLY TRANSFERABLE ON AN ATF FORM 3 OR 4. JWK 2024-05-065
ADDENDUM: Morphy Auctions warrantees that this machine gun, formerly classified as a “Pre-86 Dealer Sample”, has had its restrictions removed by the BATF, and it will now transfer as fully transferable to individuals. This guarantee will be valid for 120 days after auction close. This gives the winning bidder of record ample time to pay for the item, have it E-file transferred by Morphy’s to their active FFL/SOT dealer of choice, and then initiate a Form 4 transfer to a private citizen (non-FFL/SOT holder). Should the BATF provide written (or email) notification that this transfer application is denied due to the gun being restricted as, “Limited to use as a Sales Sample”, then Morphy’s will refund the price paid, in full, upon receiving the lot back in the same condition as shipped out from our facility.
