2nd model rifle manufactured in 1878. Fitted with a blued round barrel with 2-line address. Blade front sight and "1876" marked flip up ladder rear sight graduated to 1,000 yards. Standard full length magazine tube. Blued frame with case hardened lever and hammer. Checkered thumbprint dust cover on nonintegral guide. Plain 2-piece walnut stocks mounted with a case hardened forend cap and tool trap crescent rifle butt plate. CONDITION: Very fine. Rifle retains the majority of its factory blue, some areas starting to tone to a brown patina. Approximately 80% nitre blue on loading gate. Case hardened components have largely faded to patina with traces of patterning. Elevator displays a rich mottled mellow patina. Stocks have scattered dings and nicks by rate very good overall. Very good bore with strong, well defined rifling. Crisp mechanics. A very nice, classic 1876.
