45.1cm (approx. 17 - 3/4") of shobu zukuri form with futasuji (double line) horimono. Suriage kiri nakago with two character signature for Kunitomo. Two piece habaki with a texture gold foil bottom and a plain copper upper half. Tsuba is pierced with designs of butterflies and five petal chrysanthemums. Fuchi and Kashira depict further five petal crystathemums and in silver with gilt highlights; menuki en suite. Mumei kozuka depicts crows in shakudo ona copper tree branch with silver storks amongst golden reeds. Roiro saya. CONDITION: Blade is out of polish with mossing and spotted oxidation throughout, and an attempt was made to sharpen the sword at some point in the past. Some chips of various size across the ha. Scattered kizu. Mounts with handling marks throughout and rubbing commensurate with age. Kurikata slot vacant.
