64.1cm (approximately 25 - 1/4") nagasa of classic shinogi zukuri formwith an oil tempered gunome notare hamon (temper line). Nakago with kuri jiri, single mekugi-ana, kesho yasruime, and signed. Signature is hasty and difficult to read but appears to be "(something)katsu" but does not match up with any signatures in Slough or Stein's database. Brass habaki with vertical striations, while tsuba, fuchi, and kabuto-gane are brass and decorated with simple incised florals. Menuki are soft but appear to be dragons, with grey sa-me. Saya is covered with a leather combat cover, tied at koiguchi, with a single hanger. CONDITON: Blade with scattered handling marks and mossing, heavier towards monouchi, but temper is clearly defined except for an area at mono-uchi where it is difficult to follow. Mounts have some handling marks and typical age related darkening, but present well. Leather is good, somewhat compressed at bottom. with some typical scrapes and handling marks, with evidence of an adhesive sticker removed.
