Lot consists of: (A) Pattern 1873 barracks blanket. Often referred to as the "California blanket" these textiles were only issued for 3 years until the introduction of the Pattern 1876 blanket. Constructed of tightly woven high-quality wool with 3 - 1/2" black stripes at the upper and lower edges. The blanket measures approximately 79" x 58" and most likely shrank due to the aging of the wool and repeated washings. These blankets were originally issued with "US" stenciled at the center but they are often encountered missing the letters due to use and washing. The blanket remains sturdy with nice color. There is a small hole at the center with stains surrounding it that are not visible while displayed folded. CONDITION: Good. (B) Indian Wars cotton bed sack that would go with the M1872 composite bunk. The sack would be stuffed with straw. Original manufacture stamp is present but faded. Stains Light stains throughout. Tie strings intact. Measures approximately 78" x 34". CONDITION: Good.

Item Dimensions: 20" X 16"
LOT OF 2: M1873 BARRACKS BEDDING BLANKET, AND BED SACK.
